CastRoller Makes RSS Player Even Easier!
So if you’re a user of an iPod Touch or and iPhone, you may be interested in a great way that you can use your device to receive podcasts without having to connect it to your computer. I know with the latest firmware you can get some of this functionality directly from the device but it’s limited to 10MB via a cell network AND you can only get episodes from feeds that are in the iTunes store.
You may also remember hearing a bit about the Podcaster app that got denied from the iTunes store for “duplicating functionality”. Well after starting from scratch, Alex rebuilt it to meet the requirements to get into the store. As a result we now have the RSS Player application. I’ve used the older version before it was in the store via Alex’s other distribution methods with great success. Now this version is even easier for you to install, just like any other app in the store!
A few drawbacks with the new app, and the iPhone not having cut and past, is you have to manually enter each feeds address. If you have 50 subscriptions you have to enter each feed URL individually. That may take you a while! Enter CastRoller. You may already know that with CastRoller you can import your feeds and it will give you one feed to subscribe to. How much easier is that going to be? You also only have one feed to check and one place to select “download all” to get your latest content! You can also easily add your starred episodes feed as well as your inbox feed to make some other things easier.
Combine that with the browser on the device and you can add new subscriptions, star and share episodes and see what your friends are listening to all from a device you can slide into you pocket and take anywhere!
Now I have to let you know, you should rush over to the iTunes store and get this app right now. As of right now you have about 23 hours left to get a FREE copy. After that, at 9:00 AM EST Tuesday, February 3, the price is going to be going up to $4.99, which in my opinion is still worth every penny!
