Feature Highlight: Sharing Episodes
A powerful feature of CastRoller is the ability to share podcast episodes with your contacts. When you are viewing any episode on the site, you can click on the “Share” button to have the episode instantly added to the inbox of anyone that has added you as a contact. You also have the option of including a note with our share, so you can tell your friends what you like about that episode.
Your inbox lists all of the episodes that your contacts have shared with you. When this gets really powerful is when you add the RSS feed for your inbox to your podcatcher such as iTunes. By adding that feed, whenever a contact shares an episode, your podcatcher will download the episode automatically to your device. So now, you can let your friends fill up your iPod without any work on your part.
This can be done in two ways. First, you can click the “Share on Twitter” button in the share drop down, this will redirect you to Twitter.com and have the tweet automatically filled in, you can use this feature without giving CastRoller your Twitter login information.
The other option is to visit the Twitter section of the CastRoller Settings Page. By doing this, you can choose to have every episode that you share automatically posted to your Twitter stream, with just one click on CastRoller, all of your Twitter friends will see and be able to check out the latest episode that you think they would enjoy.
